Psychology Sessions During Covid-19 21 Day Lockdown
I trust you are all keeping safe and are remaining in good health in a time of crisis in SA with the onset of Covid-19. As you are all aware the country will be in a state of 21 day Lockdown from Thursday 26 March at 23:59.
HOW DOES THIS AFFECT YOUR SESSIONS?
According to currently available information, ALL healthcare related services, be they private or public, are allowed to continue to operate as normal. Pending any further specifications that might still be released by the government, I would therefore be allowed to meet with you at the practice given my status as a health care professional registered with the HPCSA.
IS IT SAFE TO MEET, AND WHAT OTHER OPTIONS ARE THERE?
I am adhering to the strictest possible hygiene practices so that there is minimal risk of infection if you choose to meet with me at the practice. However, if you feel uncomfortable meeting in person (for instance if you feel you may be compromised in some way), please consider meeting online via skype, whatsapp video call or zoom during the 21 day lockdown period.
WHY NOT JUST CANCEL?
Receiving support and maintaining a sense of normality in a time such as this is crucial for mental and emotional well-being and I do believe that in maintaining the therapy relationship in this time you will be investing in yourself and your family.
FINALLY, PLEASE ALSO CONSIDER ME AS A SMALL PRIVATE PRACTICE RELIANT ON THE INCOME:
As most of you are also aware I am a small private practice and I would sincerely appreciate it if during this period I can still offer my services as I do rely on the income. I say this simply to remind those of you who are able to make use of my services either at the practice or online that this is also a reality from my side that I’d very much appreciate if you could consider before cancelling sessions.
Please also speak to me personally if there are other factors that may influence your decision to stop your sessions during the 21 day lockdown. We can speak through any concerns you may have and negotiate a way to continue as normal.
I trust I will continue to be able to provide every one of my clients a place a sanctuary and support during this time – even as I in turn thank you for your ongoing support in this time.
